"I am happy to inform you that SRINIVASAN COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCE, PERAMBALUR – 621 212, TAMILNADU, conducted a seminar on “A Roadmap for Summer Internships” in collaboration with Internshala. This seminar helped us motivate our students to pursue an internship during summers and improve our internship culture." The detailed report as follows;

Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives- choice, not chance, and determines your destiny – Aristotle.

A REPORT ON THE INAUGURAL FUNCTION OF THE SEMINAR ON “A ROADMAP FOR SUMMER INTERNSHIPS” (Powered by Internshala – India’s Largest Internship Platform) has organized the inaugural function on 5th March 2020 at college auditorium. The seminar commenced with the lighting of lamp by a group of dignitaries. The program was followed by our honorable founder & chairman AyyaShri.A.Srinivasan, has presided over the function. Welcoming the Chief Guest Prof.P.Premakumari and other dignitaries on and off the dais. Dr.D.Mahesh has presented the welcome address and he address about the purpose of an internship is to develop professional skills in a hands-on environment. Because internships are a learning opportunity, it is important to evaluate the skills you have developed in your time with the company. He motivated everyone to actively participate in the seminar to get benefited.In total, more than 250 participants from 7 Faculties and 2 Departments of the college and 2 observers from other sister institutions were participated in the Seminar.

Next our Chief guest inaugural address, she emphasized the value of internship and she is also explainedan internship is an opportunity offered by an employer to potential employees, called interns, to work at a firm for a fixed period of time. Interns are usually undergraduates or students, and most internships last between a month and three months. Internships are usually part-time if offered during a university semester and full-time if offered during the vacation periods.An internship should give you practical skills, workplace experience and greater knowledge of that industry, in exchange for the employer benefiting from your labour.An internship can be either paid or voluntary. The trend is increasingly (and rightly) towards the former, as voluntary internships are often cited as exploitative. As you would expect, internships that pay well are usually the most competitive.

As we all know, Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better. As an example to our beloved Principal Dr.N.Vetrivelan. In his keynote address, “we are not building the future for our youth, but we build youth for the future”. An internship provides a real life experience and exposure. It enables the intern to gain first-hand exposure of working in the real life which is remarkably valuable towards the intern’s career. It allows the student to harness the skill, knowledge and theoretical practice been taught in the college and to provide the students with an opportunity to apply the knowledge in real work situation thereby closing the gap between academic work and the actual practice.Internship teaches young professionals about specific industries and companies they are interested in, projects their self-potentials, abilities and shortcoming. Get connected, develop professional network and transition to full-time position.

Next our college Vice-Principal addressed to the gathering about the difference between apprenticeships and internships. He is also emphasized why do companies offer internships and the majority of interns will carry out a range of support tasks in a junior role. The specific duties of an internship will vary considerably depending on your employer, the industry and the type of internship. Unlike conventional employment, internships have an emphasis on training, rather than employment itself.

In the end, Prof.S.Rajasekaran (Organizing Secretary of the seminar) offered a vote of thanks to all including Chief guest Prof.P.Premakumari. He thanked all the invited guests and participants for gracing the occasion by their solemn presence.The seminar was given wide coverage by posters and print media.

In a nutshell, seminar was very unique and the insights provided by chief guest on the “Roadmap for Internships” served as eye opener for the participants. The sessions were very inspiring and there was an excellent interaction and deliberation. This seminar could positively enhance participant's perseverance, inquisitiveness for knowledge, and the leadership qualities through intern. Seminar was outstandingly helpful for the participants to think out-of-box, which could potentially help college in achieving the excellence. We placed our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Mr.AshutoshLokhande, Manager - University Relations, Internshala ~ 'internship partner of AICTE'.
