About our Department

The Department of Physics at the Srinivasan College of Arts and Science provides a rigorous and friendly environment where students learn about the nature of the physical universe and participate in cutting-edge research.

We offer highly personalized physics degree programs to prepare our students for future careers as scientists, educators and engineers. Our graduate students constitute an integral part of that research and many of our undergraduate students are active participants as well.

Both undergraduate and graduate students participate in research and department activities with faculty members that strengthen problem solving skills, build teamwork, and provide valuable research experience. We are a friendly and vigorous faculty who enjoy and take personal pride in involving students in the excitement and challenges at the forefront of research. We have first-rate support staffs that assist in all educational, research, and outreach activities.
