Industrial visit English & JMC - 2022
The PG students of English and UG JMC students went on IV to The New Indian Express ( Office ), Trichy.
Mr.A.James Amal Doss, Production Manager of The New Indian Express has delineated the two main process of printing newspapers. They are editorial process and manufacturing process. He has explained about the entire editing work and 4 major machines that is capable of producing 70,000 papers per hour.
Prof.Mohamed Jaffar, Prof.Teesa George and Prof.Anjali Augustine coordinated the entire IV.
Guest Lecture on Recent Trends in Press and Media organized by JMC - 2022
The Dept of Journalism and Mass Communication has organized a special lecture on Recent Trends in Press and Media.
Ms.Sowmya Mani, Senior Reporter of The New Indian Express, Trichy was a guest and delivered a talk on it. She has deliberated the avenues and challenges in the industry from the genesis to present. She has also conveyed that the mechanism of writing articles, cover stories, exclusives, interviews and captive captions.
Interaction session taken a vital role to eliminate the doubts of the students.
All JMC and II PG English were attended the session.

The Department Activities
In the academic year 2018-2019, Department of English conducted bridge course for all UG 1st year students around 3 days. In this programme, the Faculty members planned to involve expert lectures and activity based learning. We had invited guests to interact with the new entrant and brief the learners with their knowledge included Mr.G.RAVINDHARAN, Assistant Professor of English, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, Dr.S. VIJAYA KUMARI, Retired Assistant Professor of English Literature, Tiruchirappalli, Dr. K. NOBLE JEBAKUMAR, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Periyar E.V.R College(Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli.
The Department of English conducted Literary Association on 6th August 2019. Programme presided by our reputable Prof.V. CandraChowdry, the Head of the Department. It was Inaugurated byMr.S.JERALD SAGAYANATHAN, Assistant Professor of English, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, In this programme, we have conducted many competitions such as Essay writing, Poetry writing, Elocution, Literary News Bulletin, Drawing, Qiuz, Vocabulation and Mime. We had honoured and distributed certificates to the students those who won in the competitions.

The Department of English organized a special lecture on “English literature for UGC Examination” from 9.30 am – 2.00pm on 9th March 2018. The Lecture delivered by Prof.S.Jerald Sagaya Nathan, Assistant Professor of English, St.Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Trichy. Prof.V.Chandra Chowdry, the Head of the Department, welcomed the gatherings and introduced the speaker. Student of PG both I M.A and II M.A attended the Lecture. Through conducting this one day Special Lecture, we requested students to prepare for the forthcoming UGC Examinations.
The most awaited event of our college fresher’s day arranged for all first year students both U.G and P.G on 10th August 2015 at 9.00am. While celebrating this event, a wonderful opportunity and a perfect platform to help the fresher’s come out of their shells and excel themselves. It was a wonderful moment filled with joy, pride and responsibility. As a chief guest Prof. G.Balakrishnan, former vice principal and Hod of English St,Joseph’s college. His humorous lecture enlightened the students to develop the English language. He said that English is a vital role in the student’s career and which will be helpful for deserving the jobs. He intimated the students, who voluntarily participated college cultural as well as academic programme.
This is a one day soft skills programme entitled “stream lining “organized by Kalisto Department of English on 07th August 2015 at 10.30am. As a chief guest Mr. V.Chandra Chowdry who delivered a special lecture to the students, stream lining. He also shares many ideas to the students, how to develop their personalities. His speech began with identifying the differences between curriculum vitae, resume and bio data. In the training program, the students were the thought about good etiquette to be followed while attending interviews, Tips and guidance for attending HR interviews were also dealt in details, he also said that, what the things to be written in CV, what is group discussion, how to take part in group discussion do’s and don’ts in group discussion. At the end of the program concluded with feedback from students and vote of thanks by coordinator.
The activities of the English Association were inaugurated 17th July 2015 at 2015 at 10.00 am by Dr. V.Francis, Assistant professor and in the presence of our principal Dr. p. Senthilnathan. The programme begun with prayer song, Mr. V. Chandra Chowdry, The Head, who had welcomed the gathering, The Principal sir has inaugurate the address and talked on the importance of the English language communication today. The chief Guest of the day, Dr.V.Francis who talked about the young gap between employability and communication skills gave some tips in English Literature for improving their potential.
Bridge Course In English
This is a conventional programme at the college as well department. Every year the department this programme to bridge the gap between school life and college life. The students of I-U.G are the tannest audience. We also bring the sterling and eminent professors of English like prof .G. Balakrishnan, former Vice- Principal & HOD of English, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, Dr. A. Mohamed Ibraheem, Vice-Principal and HOD of English Literature, Jamal Mohamed College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, Dr. K. Mohamed Umar Farook, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Jamal Mohamed College(Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli for addressing and discussing the enhances of English language. The faculties of the English also enlighten the students by their profound knowledge in English. This programme enables the students to understand the importance of English in post-Modern world. It also helps them to eradicate the ignorance and to know lot about the necessity and learning English language. Since the in caption of the college more than 20,000 students are benefited out of it.

He spoke about the importance of English language, what are all the errors committed by the students and finally he gave pronunciation practice to the students. The programme was very useful and valuable for the students.
On that day Association members were elected and crowned by the Chief Guest. Finally Vote of thanks was delivered by the Association secretary Master K.Rajadurai of II MA English.

He spoke about the applicable facts and importance of criticism in English Literature, and he also stated how one can apply criticism in relevant genres. The programmer was very practical and functional for I PG students.
A Report On Three Days Educational Tour To Kerala
This wonderful days (5, 6, 7 October 2016) Tour was organized by department of English. The tour coordinator. Prof. M.Ashoka Chakravarthy is accompanied by 6 staff members and 102 students of which 72 were girls 30 were boys. The students came from class: II M.A, IIIB.A and I HMCS. We started our tour on 4th Tuesday at 8:30pm.

We began our first day of study tour by visiting Padmanabaswamy Temple, located in Thiruvanandhapuram . Really the Dravidian style of architecture of lord Vishnu temple is awesome. Next we visited Zoological Park, Thiruvanandhapuram. We were overjoyed by seeing different types of species. We reached Kovalam Beach at evening. Finally, after two hours of enjoyment in the Kovalam Beach, We got placed Sangumugam Beach and had dinner there. We ended the first day at 9:30pm at hotel in Thiruvanandhapuram.
6 th October 2016
It was started to travel at 6pm for the destination. Alleppey and reached 10:30am. Alleppey is famous for Beach. House boats, Backwaters and Boating and we enjoyed all the places respectively. Finally we went to chottanikara to get the blessings of Hindu Mother Goddess Bhavathi Temple. The second day was ended at hotel in Kochi.
7 th October 2016
In the morning 6:30am we visited the Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica, built by Portuguese at Fort Kochi and got blessings. After the breakfast we found the last amusing destination of our educational tour, Wonder laa. There the whole day was spent. Students enjoyed much. They were extremely happy.
At 6:30pm packing all our belongings, we started to travel back to our college. On Saturday 8th October 2016 Morning 6am we reached Perambalur. At New Bustand all the students were dropped there and w instructed them to go home safely.
We are deeply thankful to our management for giving permission to go for a tour. We would like to thank our respected Principal Sir and vice – principal sir for giving support to us. This beautiful journey would not have been possible without their kind support.

We started our tour on 2nd Tuesday at 7:30pm.

Munnar is a town and hill station located inIdukki district of the southwestern India state of Kerala. We began our first day of study tour by visiting Munnar and we reached the hotel 5:30am. Really the places Munnaru is awesome. We have visited all the places in Munnar by Jeep it was a wonderful experience for us and the places are Boat House, view point, mattupetty Dam also We Swere overjoyed by seeing different types of places and finally the 1st day was ended at hotel in Munnar.
4 th October 2017
It was started to travel at 6am for the destination Cochin and reached Chottanikkarai temple 10:30am in Chochin to get the blessings of Hindu Mother Goddess Bhavathi. After that we starts from chottanikarai temple to House boats, Backwaters and Boating and we enjoyed all the places respectively. Finally we went to Marari Beach and there we spent more than two hours and enjoyed well.The second day was ended at hotel in Kochi.
5 th October 2017
In the morning 6:30am we have started the journey to Athirapalli Falls,which is located in Thrissur District of Kerala. We had our breakfast in nearby the hotel in Athirapalli, there we have admired by the beauty of waterfalls. After the lunch we have visited zoo and finally we went to the famous temple in kerala. Guruvayur sri Krishna Temple Which is dedicated to the Hindu god Guruvayurapan( a four-armed affiliation of Hindus god Vishnu) located in the town of Guruvayur. There we got the blessings of lord Guruvayurapan.
At 6:30pm packing all our belongings, we started to travel back to our college. On Saturday 6th October 2017 Morning 6am we reached Perambalur. At New bustand all the students were dropped there and instructed them go home safely.
