Ramya, Head, Dept of Biotechnology, Welcomed the gathering. Dr N.Vetrivelan, Principal, Prof G Ravi, Vice Principal and Dr S.Kumaresan, Dean of Research, Srinivasan College of Arts & Science, Perambalur and Dr Sivakumar Kailasam, Principal Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Dental College, Perambalur felicitated the function, Speakers Dr D. Vijayalakshmi, Dr Sriram Chowdry and Dr M Sivagami, in their key note, explained Oral Hygeine and Oral cavity disorders and their progenesis with other Organ dysfunction concerns with sub maxillary and sublingual pathway. The arrangements for the programm were done by the concerns of both the colleges. The programm successfully ended with the Vote of Thanks bid by the Department Representative P.Anitha, I M.Sc., Microbiology.

Srinivasan, Chancellor of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University presided over the ceremony. Dr. N. Vetrivelan, Principal of Srinivasan College of Arts and Science, felicitated the gathering. Dr. A.Ananth, HOD of Microbiology welcomed the gathering.
Prof. Dr. Aravind Deshmukh, All India president, Microbiologist Society India has emphasized that the recent developments in bioplastics from microbes and the requirements of probiotics. He has also added that the students, research scholars must start work together in all research aspects of microbiology and this students unit of Microbiologists society India will provide great platform to enhance and enrich the knowledge to come out with great deals to have bio making India. Dr.S.Shanmugam, Microbiologists Society, State president, Dr. C Vadivalagan from Uzbekistan, Dr. S. Shahitha, Microbiologists Society State Coordinator were stamped their views on the crises in getting fuel and the alternative is microbial fuel. Guests also created awareness among the student participant about the importance of being an entrepreneur. They have also discussed about stem cells research in current scenario.
Advantages of setting students chapters:
- MSI will support the college to receive grant from college to receive grant from funding agencies
- Will help to arrange seminars, conferences, symposia and exhibition.
- Will encourage and support research activities in microbiology.
Newsletter and magazine of Microbiology Department were also released by Dr. Shanmugam, State president of MSI and received by principal of college. The Office bearers of department also installed formally in the occasion. More than 200 students participated in the ceremony. R. National Workshop on “Bioinformatics: Future Role of Computing in Biology”
The PG and Research Department of Microbiology, Srinivasan college of Arts & Science, Perambalur organized one day National Workshop on “Bioinformatics: Future Role of Computing in Biology” on 13th February 2020. In this manner plenary session the special lecture Dr. Joseph Selvin FNAAS (Professor and Coordinator, Department of Microbiology, Pondicherry University), Dr. Murugesh Easwaran (Scientist of Bioinformatics, International Centre for Genetic engineering and Biotechnology, New Delhi. India).
On the afternoon session of the workshop, the technical session was handled by Dr. Balaji Munivelan (Senior Bioinformatician, ABS Geno-Informatics, Chennai, India) shared his findings of Technical concepts of Bioinformatics. A total of 200 Students, Research scholars, Scientists and Faculties from various institutions and universities participated in the one day National workshop.

The PG and Research Department of Microbiology, Srinivasan College of Arts & Science, Perambalur organized National level E-Quiz on “AYUSH INDIA 2020” to "Test for Ayurveda Yoga Unani Siddha Homeopathy" from 22nd – 24th May 2020. The quiz was mainly focused on academicians, Research scholars and Students of life sciences from various states. The quiz was carried out with the goal of using natural medicine as the only weapon to treatment of all pandemic diseases. A total of 516 Students, Research scholars, Scientists and Faculties from various institutions and universities participated in the one day National level of E-Quiz.

The Department of Microbiology joining hands with NSS, YRC and Rotract conducted Blood Group Identification Camp on 05.09.2018. Dr. N. VETRIVELAN Principal and Prof. G. RAVI, Vice-Principal, Srinivasan College of Arts and Science, Perambalur presided over the function. Dr.A.Ananth, Head, Dept. of Microbiology and NSS, YRC and Rotract co-ordinator and the Staff members Co-ordinate for the above. About 500 UG Students were checked for their Blood groups.
Programme 2: CAMPUS VISIT @ KAPL
A total of 24 students with faculties on campus visit to Karnataka Antibiotics & Pharmaceutical Limited (KAPL) at Bangalore from 27th September to 29th September, 2018. The visit aimed to understand and have an insight about the way things work in an industry. Dr. Durga Prasad, AGM, KAPL received us and briefed us about the industry. Then, we were guided by Mr. Sathish Kumar.K.S, Manager/ Production and he took our students to all the departments and showed the protocols followed in the Production and Quality wings.
Programme 3: Medi-Food Festival 2K18
The Department of Microbiology, Antone Club Association organised a one day event-“Medi-Food Festival 2K18” on 5th October, 2018 at Srinivasan College of Arts & Science. The Guest of Honor was Dr.R.Stephan, Asst.Prof, Research Dept. of Botany, Govt. Arts College, Ariyalur. Students from different colleges exhibited their homemade culinary using traditional medicinal Indian herbs in the food fest. The recipes were assessed by the jury like our chief guest Dr.R.Stephan and the prizes were distributed.
Programme 4: National Seminar on “Frontiers in Bio-Mimicry Medicine”
The PG and Research Department of Microbiology, Srinivasan college of Arts & Science, Perambalur organized a one day National Seminar on “Frontiers in Bio-Mimicry medicine” on 1 February, 2019. In this manner the plenary talks were multi-dimensional fields of life sciences. Dr. K.M. Alagappan (AccuVis Bio, Abu Dhabi, UAE), Dr. S. Kumaran (Asso. Prof of Biotech, Periyar Maniyammai University, Tanjore) and Dr. M. Muthuselvam (Asst. Prof of Biotech, Bharathidasan University) shared his findings of Bio-prospective of microbes for various issues. The oral and poster sessions discussed the prime thrust areas in the field of microbiology. A total of 250 Students, Research scholars and faculties from various institutions participated and exchange their ideas. Scientists from different research centers and universities presented their finding to the budding young minds. The Oral and Poster presentation were assessed by the jury and our chief guest Dr.R.Vijaykumar (Asst. Prof of Microbiology, Bharathidasan Univerisity Constituents College, Perambalur) and the prizes were distributed.

Programme 1: First aid and Safety guidelines
Department of Biotechnology & Microbiology organized a seminar on “FIRST AID AND SAFETY GUIDELINES” on Aug 30th, 2013. The chief guest of seminar was Dr.F.Paul Robinson, Project manager, GVK-EMRI, 108 Ambulance service, Trichy. Mr.M.Kannan, DEME, 108 Ambulance services, Perambalur & Prof.S.Sumathi, Asst.Professor, Srinivasan College of Nursing, Perambalur was other co-guests. The chief guest explains in detail about safety measurements of accidental disorders. The functioning and processing of 108 ambulances were also explained for the students. About 150 UG & PG life science & Hotel management students were benefitted and acquired knowledge about first aid and 108 ambulance services.
